New York World’s Fair 50 and 75 Year Anniversary Celebration
This month is the 75th Anniversary of the opening of the 1939 Fair and the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the 1964 New York World’s Fair. There is a LOT happening over the next several months to celebrate these anniversaries.
The seemingly impossible task, after a delayed start, of New York staging this event in such a record time has had enormous possibilities for many of us, who may want the chance to “Come Back to the Fair”. This is due to the efforts of many individuals, groups, including Disney, the Queens Borough Presidents office, namely Queensborough president Melinda Katz. Pavilion to Open to the Public for First Time in Decades
A Timeline of Events is shaping up thanks to the dedicated effort of many private individuals and the public sector including The Queens Historical Museum. One group, named The New York State Pavilion Paint Crew has coordinated with the Parks Department to open the Pavilion between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM on April 22nd.
Because of this Open Gate Event- the New York State Pavilion Paint Project Crew and NYC Parks invite the public to a RARE PHOTO OPPORTUNITY! To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the World’s Fair and the New York State Pavilion, they will be opening the gate to allow limited access so guests can view and take photos of the inside. The viewing area will allow the classic roof and towers backdrop for you, your family, and friends.
What’s more: The Paint Crew will be on hand to answer questions and talk about the past, present, and future of the structure many are so passionate about. Hardhats are required and will be provided for our visitors. Please share this news and come on out to snap your photos from inside the pavilion! What’s more is they may also turn on the promenade fountains for the first time in a long while.
