Lead Captured! Done, Right?

from lead to sale

Not even close! Capturing leads is the FIRST step towards converting website visitors into customers or clients. Yes, the Internet has made it easier to reach larger targets of people in a MUCH larger geographical area (like Global) but you need to do much more while leveraging the Internet to capture those leads.

Improve Relationships With Your List

Regardless of the size of your list of contacts, the better relationship you have with your list, the more likely you are to get them to buy from you. Remember, people like to do business with people they know, like, and trust. building relationshipsIf you are using auto-responders, make sure to personalize them. Don’t used canned emails that don’t let the recipient get a chance to “know you”. That would be defeating the purpose of email marketing. If you are using a program that gives you shared auto-responders, by all means, use the campaigns, HOWEVER, make a copy and personalize them. Make sure they are speaking in your “voice”. For instance, when I use auto-responders, which of course I do, I write like I speak, just as if I am literally talking to you. I have gotten a few responses that refer to the “email I sent ‘them’! This is a compliment in that the recipient felt as though it was a personal email – which in essence – it was, even though it is part of an AUTO-responder campaign.

Increase Value To Your List

increase value to your list

Another way to Improve the Relationship with your list is to increase the value you provide for your list.  How? Share what you have learned – information you know will help your target. Give away free information – even if it isn’t your own. People love free things – they will be grateful for your sharing free value you have found with them. Remember, a subscriber can UN-subscribe from your list at any time. Make your content valuable enough to make them WANT to stay on your list!

Increase Exposure to Your List

If you are using an auto-responder and you come across something really valuable for your target (your list), send them an email – even if it is not included in your automated auto-responders. Again, if your target is interested in your area of expertise, this information will be valued by them. How about sending out holiday emails? People like to be remembered on holidays – it makes them feel special – because they ARE special!

Contact Page vs Lead Capture Page – Aren’t They The Same Thing?

NO! A Contact Page is a Contact Page and a Lead Capture Page is a Lead Capture Page – DUH :)

arrogantWhat is a Contact Form? It is a form on your website that the visitor can fill out IF they have a question for you or want to talk to you. After they fill out the contact form, the onus is on you to respond to their inquiry.

That is fine as business is all about building relationships to get your prospects to know, like, and trust you, right? So your website visitor takes a look around your website and sees something they have a question about. They complete your form and you get back to them – this is all a good thing. You can decide when creating whatever form you are going to use, what fields you want them to fill out. In other words, you can customize your form.

HOWEVER, what if someone comes to your site and DOESN’T fill out your contact form? Will you know they were there? What if they didn’t have a question, or they found your site not clear enough, or your contact form was not easily accessible (things you CAN control)? How will you follow-up with them to see how you can help them if you don’t even know they were there? The answer is simple – you can’t!

Here is The Difference Between a Contact Form and Lead Capture Form

lead capture formFirst of all, you are going to strategically place your lead capture form on your website where they CAN’T miss it. Yes, you can and should also do that with your contact form. But herein lies the difference. You WANT your website visitors to leave their contact information so you CAN follow up with them in a series of well-thought out and well-written auto-responders. Auto-responders are a series of emails sent out over a period of time (YOU decide the time between emails) that continue to provide value to your potential clients/customers who are now on your “list” because they have opted in to your list by completing your lead capture form. Your auto-responder campaign is ATTACHED TO your lead capture form so this process takes place behind the scenes and is activated by an “opt-in”.

Now why would you expect someone to just GIVE you their contact information? You shouldn’t unless you give them a reason to. You will give them something they need or want and in turn, they will give you their contact information. Value for value.

There are certain things to keep in mind when creating your lead capture form. First and foremost, is make sure it is seen above the fold and prominently displayed on your website. You also have a few different options. You can use the actual embed form code or you can create a banner that leads to a lead capture form where you are still collecting contact information. You might want to try a combination and see which works best.

You want to ask as few questions as possible when filling out the required fields of your survey/lead capture form. The less a website visitor is asked to do, the more likely they will do it. I always like to make the phone number field mandatory as I want a way to follow-up with my leads. If they aren’t willing to give me their phone number, changes are they would not be a valuable lead for me.

Why Video?

  • People LOVE Watching Video!
  • Video Delivers Your Message While Engaging Your Audience.
  • Video Delivers Content on ALL Platforms.
  • Video is Easy to Share & People DO!
  • Video is Easy to Share on Facebook.
  • Video Sells Products & Services.
  • Video Adds Magic to Your Message.
  • Promote YOUR Message With Video to be seen, be heard, be known, be trusted, and get more sales.

How Can A Small Business Owner Start Using Video?

Before embarking on any video marketing plan, you need to decide what message you want to convey via video. Do you want to greet your website visitors when they arrive at your web page? This is a great place to start. A short video about what your business offers can serve as your virtual business card. This is called a business profile video. You have many options available to you from literally turning on your video camera and speaking your message to your target market to creating something different and memorable that will grab your audience’s attention. A combination of both is a really good idea as I have suggested to many clients. The traditional “talking head” video serves the purpose of letting your potential clients/customers get to “know” you. This is really important because people like to do business with people they know, like, and trust. However, unless you are a professional actor or speaker, your audience might not stay engaged long enough to receive your full message. This is where the magic of video comes into play. Using creative, unique, and memorable methods to deliver your business message will hold people’s attention longer and increase the chances of them hanging around long enough to hear and see your entire marketing message.

Are You a Procrastinator?

procrastinateProcrastination is a common psychological behavior that most people exhibit at some point in their lives. There usually aren’t negative or long-term consequences to occasional procrastination, however, when it becomes more of an invasive trait, it can be a real problem – especially for a small business owner who really needs to accomplish things in order to make money.

It is a well-known fact that if we understand the reasons behind our behaviors, we will be putting ourselves in a better position to improve those behaviors that have negative consequences. For the small business owner, procrastination might very well sabotage his/her ultimate goal – success. They become their own worst enemy and a major obstacle in the success of their own business. Procrastinators might have the best intentions but often give credence to the phrase “good intentions are good for nothing”.

To get beyond your tendency to procrastinate, you will need to understand the reason(s) behind your behavior and use some strong will to overcome this tendency. There are many underlying reasons for procrastination that are often related to one another.

You are Feeling Overwhelmed

It is not uncommon for someone who is faced with complex or too many high priority tasks to feel overwhelmed. Because there is so much to do, one might not know where to start and may actually end up doing nothing. To overcome this it would help to break down the tasks into more manageable units that can be addressed step-by-step. If the task at hand is too complex and beyond your understanding, don’t be afraid to ask for help. As a small business owner, you might believe you should know everything. However, no one knows everything, so you need to realize and acknowledge this fact and don’t feel inadequate. There is help available for everyone about everything 24 hours a day. Use Google! Just type in your question in the search bar and you might be surprised at how much information you will find right at your fingertips.

Poor Organization Skills

You might think that everything has a due date of yesterday, but it will be more beneficial for you to admit that some things do have a higher priority than others. Try to review your to-do list objectively and consider what the true top priority items are. Make a list with those most important at the top and put the items that really can wait until tomorrow at the bottom. You will get to them – just not today.

Inability to Make Decisions/Fear of Making a Wrong Decision

Some people find it very difficult to make a decision. They evaluate all the available options over and over and over again without coming to any conclusions. They are looking for a guaranty that their decision is the right one, but we all know that the only two guaranties in life are death and taxes. While it is important to weigh your options carefully and make informed decisions, not making decisions will get you nowhere. Don’t be afraid to make a wrong decision because at some point in your business career, you will more than likely make more than one wrong decision. Assure yourself that you did all the necessary research and analysis and if your decision ends up being wrong, try to understand why and where you went wrong. Making a decision in business is no different than making a decision in our personal lives. Making mistakes is part of being human and small business owners are human. Just be sure that you deal with your mistakes without self-blame (or blaming others) and that you also learn from them. Give yourself a time-limit to come to a decision and stick to it.

You Tend to be a Perfectionist

You want everything you do to be perfect so you often end up doing nothing. No one is perfect and no one can expect themselves to be perfect. Perfectionists are constantly under stress as they strive to reach their goal because it is an unrealistic one. If you are a small business owner who is a perfectionist, sit back and objectively think about how this tendency is affecting your profits, which is your ultimate goal, and you will realize how your ideals are actually counterproductive. Lower your standards to a more realistic level, allow yourself the chance to be human and you will find that you will be much more effective.

The bottom line is, if you find yourself procrastinating more than you are comfortable with, break your projects into manageable tasks, make a prioritized list of tasks within a realistic and objective timeline, and allow yourself to be human by making decisions and forgiving yourself should you make a bad one.

Video Marketing Rises in Popularity: Do You Have a Strategy?

video marketing strategy New Horizon 123 Online videos have become more accessible and are starting to become expected by your website visitors. As a business owner, you really want to give your prospective clients what they are looking for, make their user-experience easier, make your brand stand-out, be memorable, and increase your leads to sales conversions. Make your product or service offerings clear, creative, and easy-to-understand in the 3 seconds you have of your target’s attention before they are moving onto the next site.

It always helps to put yourself in the shoes of your prospects. If you are looking for a product or service, come across two sites with the same offerings – all other things being equal – would you spend more time on the website that had a compelling video right on the home page that quickly and concisely answers your questions or one that has no video and a lot of text to read through in order to determine if that site’s offering fulfills your needs?

Do You Have A Video Strategy?

So now you have realized that you need to use a video to make your website visitor quickly “get” what you are about. You also know that the more compelling and engaging your video is, the more likely they will be to stay and watch the video. Now that you know where you want to be, how do you get “there”? Jumping in without knowing exactly where you are going is likely to get you “lost”.

The Home-Based Business Market is Ever-Changing

revolving doorWe have all seen Network Marketing companies come and go. In addition, it seems that more and more are popping up daily. Why is this? First of all, the appeal of working from home, for yourself, making your own hours, not having to answer to your “boss”, and of course the income potential, make Network Marketing an appealing and fast-growing industry – ESPECIALLY in today’s tough economic time.

Many people have a “day-job” and belong to a Network Marketing company for supplemental income. Some own their own traditional business AND are independent reps for a Network Marketing company. Still others belong to several Network Marketing Companies at the same time.

There are many different reasons people join Network Marketing Companies, and many reasons many of them jump from one company to another. The attrition rate is a HUGE problem in many MLMs. Why?

  • Lack of training
  • Lack of up-line support
  • Lack of systems
  • Lack of the ability to leverage the industry leader’s experience and expertise with their down-line

How to Reduce Network Marketing Attrition Rates

  • Provide adequate training. Consider CIDI or “Can I Do This”? If a rep doesn’t think they can do the SAME things their successful leaders do, they will quit
  • Make sure there are systems in place whereby the up-line is offering support
  • You MUST have systems in place that will recruit, train and RETAIN your reps
  • You MUST be able to leverage the successful leaders experiences and expert knowledge of how to build and grow a Netowrk Marketing Business

But, People Are Not Duplicatable – Systems ARE!

That’s right, so when leaders TRY to duplicate themselves WITHOUT systems in place to help them  – both the leaders and their team LOSE!

Solution: Leverage Leader’s Experience and Industry-Expert Knowledge in a DUPLICATABLE Automated Marketing System!

Are You Including Video Marketing in Your Local Business Marketing Mix?

VloggingOver 3 billion videos are viewed on YouTube every single day. Consumers who view an online video are 85% more likely to make a product purchase (source: internetretailer). What are you waiting for?

Benefits of Video Marketing

It’s Inexpensive: Creating your video doesn’t require any fancy equipment and many of us already have what we need to get started. Getting your video online is free through many services or costs very little to host on your own website.

It’s Targeted: In the “olden days”, the only place you could really get your video seen by thousands, or even millions, was by advertising on TV which can be VERY expensive. In addition, inevitably you are paying to have your commercial shown to people who aren’t likely to ever become your customers.

With video marketing, you can laser target your videos to reach a specific audience and market to that audience, so that your message gets in front of the right people. And luckily, even though people outside your market may view your videos, it doesn’t have to cost you a penny to have them see it.

It’s Trackable: Online marketing is much easier to track than traditional media venues with the availability of detailed analytics and tracking,  from how many times your videos are viewed, to how many people ordered your product or service because of a video, you have these statistics at your fingertips 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Visibility in Local Search: One important thing to realize that is that today’s customer is Internet and tech savvy. Just because they’re in your local area it doesn’t mean they know how to find you. People no longer look in the Yellow pages when searching for something – they “Google” it. They’re searching online, looking for reviews and recommendations before they visit your store or office.

If they can’t find you online, then they aren’t going to walk through your door. Video helps you get in front of a local audience that is already looking for a business like yours.

Increases Website Traffic: Video marketing can be a great source of extra traffic to your website. No, you’re probably not going to see millions of visitors every day and you may not become a YouTube sensation, but you can certainly grow your targeted traffic and turn many of those visitors into paying customers and clients.

• Keep Visitors on Your Site Longer: Having a video on your website increases the length a visitor stays on your website, especially if your video is engaging and compelling.

Establish Yourself as an Expert: People want to do business with people who know what they’re doing. Online video provides you with the opportunity to show that you’re knowledgeable in your area of expertise.

Whether you’re a cosmetic dentist demonstrating a certain procedure or a lawyer advising fathers on how to get fair access to their children, informative videos show you to be a professional that potential customers can turn to.

Increased Credibility: Not only do people look for businesses that know what they’re doing, they want to feel like they can trust them and that, in some way, they know them. Video helps create a more meaningful connection to viewers to a much greater extent than text or images alone.

Increase Loyalty from Existing Customers: As a business owner, you already know that it’s easier to get an existing customer to buy from you again than it is to acquire a new customer. Our regulars are our bread and butter. There’s no doubt about that. Of course, it’s important to keep growing your clientele, but it’s crucial that you stay in the mind of customers who have purchased from you before. Video is a great way to do that.

Whether it’s providing helpful how-to information or sending a video message of thanks, there is so much potential to tap into with your video camera.

What is a Sales Funnel?

sales funnel A Sales Funnel is a System made up of 3 components to walk a prospect down a predetermined path with the outcome of getting more prospects to buy your products and/or join your business opportunity.

The 3 Key Components of a Sales Funnel are:

1) A Lead Capture Page (a web page to capture the contact info of prospects)
2) An Email Campaign (a series of email messages spread over time).
3) A Sales Page (a page to motivate prospects to buy your products and/or join your business opportunity.

Sales Funnels are Important for EVERYONE doing network Marketing but even MORE important for those in Network Marketing.

Without a Sales Funnel, if your distributors send prospects to their replicated website offered by their Network Marketing company, the prospects in most cases are NOT prompted (or required) to enter their contact info to learn more about your business. While that might appear to be a good thing initially, it actually can cost you a LOT of lost business because …

  • Your distributors would have NO idea when a prospect is on their website … and therefore no way to communicate with them when the prospect might be most interested in doing business with them.
  • Your distributors would have NO way to automatically follow up with prospects (because they didn’t capture their information) and as we all know, the Fortune Is In The Follow-Up!
  • Your distributors can NOT do targeted marketing and therefore your business won’t be as appealing to prospects and your sales will be lower.

In contrast, Sales Funnels have the unique ability to CAPTURE the contact information of prospects who visits a Lead Capture page and therefore we DO notify distributors IMMEDIATELY when a prospect is interested in your business rather than missing that opportunity that might never exist again!

As well, Sales Funnels Automatically Follow-Up with prospects by sending an Email Campaign (a series of email messages spread over time to educate prospects) so that a prospect is a LOT more likely to buy products and/or join your business.

Sales Funnels also can allow for Targeted Marketing so that prospects are a LOT more likely to see the value of buying your products/services and/or joining your business opportunity.  Doesn’t it make sense, that a college student fearful that they might not get a job when they graduate, has entirely different needs than a single mom who has very limited time and money, versus a baby boomer faced with the financial uncertainty of their future?
